Prenatal Massage

Pregnancy is one of life's great journeys, but it's not always a comfortable ride. Carrying a baby inside of you changes your center of gravity and puts a lot of stress on your back, neck, abdominal muscles, and shoulders. Prenatal massage addresses these particular areas safely, and allows you to relax and enjoy your pregnancy.

It goes without saying that a pregnant woman can get quite uncomfortable. That's why comfort is such an important part of a prenatal massage. Special bolsters and cushions are implemented during the session including a "preggo pillow" (which is simply a large cushion hollowed out to leave room for Baby) and/or a body pillow. Only when appropriate, the use of warm compresses and cold massage stones may be be applied. Special permission for this from a physician may be required. As always, only the finest linens and lotions will do. Soft flannel sheets, cotton blankets and unscented, water-based products make a profound difference on the quality of service.

In the early days of my career, I practiced massage out of a busy hair salon in Auburn, Maine. A large percentage of the people I worked with were women in their 20's and 30's. The demand for prenatal massage was huge. When I opened my private practice in 2010, I upgraded to more sophisticated positioning equipment and began to concentrate on these women. When we began to offer couples massage in 2011, the package was complete.
